for all of our hopes and dreams

this isn't a bleeding heart,
this is a mourning heart,
a captivated heart,
a tired heart that has endured
and fallen
and risen
and found joy
in compassion.
this is a heart that chooses
not to look the other way,
chooses to witness,
to become full of,
to absord the nature
of others.
this is a heart
concerned,
developed,
direct,
and sympathetic.
this is a heart that has
seen the rise and fall,
the ups and downs,
the blood and toil
and has lived to endure.
we all endure.
we are creatures of hope.
we are strength
begotton of weakness,
weakness of a mourning heart.
and if we should die,
there will be others to
take our place,
to measure our endurance,
and strive toward
promising dreams
for the hopes of all
of our
brothers and sisters.
